When was Netflix founded?

The company launched its website in April 1998, letting customers rent DVDs by post, and introduced a monthly subscription the following year. In 2000 Netflix offered to sell itself to video-rental giant Blockbuster for 50 million dollars, but Blockbuster turned it down and later went bankrupt. Netflix began streaming in January 2007, and in February 2013 it released House of Cards, its first major original series. It expanded to more than 190 countries and passed 300 million paid memberships by the end of 2024. Its hit Korean drama Squid Game became its most-watched series ever.
