When Did the First Television Broadcast Happen?

On 26 January 1926, Scottish inventor John Logie Baird demonstrated the first true television system to members of the Royal Institution in London, transmitting a moving image of a ventriloquist dummy named "Stookie Bill" using a mechanical scanning disk. The image was crude (30 lines of resolution), but it proved the concept. The BBC began experimental broadcasts using Baird system in 1929. Meanwhile, Philo Farnsworth in the United States demonstrated a fully electronic television system in 1927, which ultimately proved superior. The BBC launched the world first regular public television service on 2 November 1936, initially using both Baird mechanical and Marconi-EMI electronic systems before adopting the electronic system exclusively.
